December 11, 1978 – a day I will never forget. It was a day of great significance for me spiritually, burned into my memory as one of the most significant days of my life. After another disappointing “time of the month”, I was faced with the grim reality that perhaps I would never realize my dream of becoming a mother, and that no matter how much I wanted it, I would have to face the fact that it was not…..
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NKJV) My life has been filled with several unexpected difficulties this week, but God’s faithfulness has been evident throughout the week. While some things have been unexpected to me, I thank and praise God that He knew these things would happen, and He has gone before me to work on my behalf in…..
You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. (James 4:2b-3 ESV) Everyone has needs and desires, right? Have you asked God to supply your needs, and to give you the desires of your heart? Bruce and I had the opportunity to see the movie, “The War Room,” this week. For those of you that haven’t seen it yet but are intending to, you need…..
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”(Exodus 14:14 NIV) Just as the Israelites could trust God to lead them to safety when they faced the Red Sea, you can trust Him to do the same for you in whatever obstacles you are facing today.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV) Have you ever felt exhausted from trying to do “the right things” that would please God, and hopefully earn His favor? Living like that…..
I’m feeling very thankful this morning for the many blessings that God has given to me. I’d just like to take a minute and thank both Nina Brown O’Brien and Susan Boland for their recent testimonies of God’s love and faithfulness to them. I’ve heard from some people about how both of these posts encouraged them and strengthened their faith. “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thess. 5:11)
It has been nearly 30 years since my spirit was transferred from darkness to light, my person became a New Creation, and my mind was opened to the transformations that come from ‘hearing’ the voice of God, of listening for that still small voice to guide me, encourage me, correct me, fill me, heal me and transform me. I recently heard myself say to a friend, “The Lord spoke to me…” (about what I can’t recall just now), and I…..
The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” Then he said to…..
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 NIV) “Heavenly Father, please help us to shine Your light into…..
The year after my husband passed away, I wanted to go to Salvage, NL, to visit his grave, and see the headstone that was put in place. On a Saturday in 2012, I got in my car and drove down to Salvage. I stopped in Clarenville as we always did on the 3 hour journey, for a little rest and a coffee. I was feeling pretty lonely but also feeling excited to be going to visit the cemetery. This felt…..
