Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (John 15:4-5 NKJV)
Today, as we observe Good Friday, we reflect on the events of the day more than two thousand years ago when Jesus Christ was Crucified on Calvary’s Cross to make atonement for our sins. He could’ve said “no, I’m not doing it,” but He didn’t. He willingly suffered and died that horrific death because of His tremendous love for us.
This Scripture reminds us that we need to stay close to Jesus and to remain in close relationship with Him through our prayers. As we do that, we will get to know Him better, and the depth of His love for us will become more real to us. As that happens, our lives will be transformed, and we will know in our hearts that Matthew 19:26 is true, “…with God all things are possible.” Then, because of the life-changing power of His love, we will be able to bear fruit and live productive lives, like we’ve never done before.
My prayer is, “Lord, I want my life to be renewed by a greater awareness of Your love. Please reveal Your love to me, more with each passing day.
