And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV)
Do you believe in God? Do you live in anticipation of receiving God’s blessings?
When we “live by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7), it changes us and everything about our lives. Without faith, we are limited by our humanity. Whereas, if we are motivated by our faith in God, our lives can show that “with God all things are possible.”(Matt: 19:26) When we read about the lives of faith of Noah, Abraham, Moses and others, we see that they did some exceptional things. God was able to do exceptional things in and through their lives because they believed God and were willing to step out in faith in Him.
If we choose to live by faith, we have the opportunity to live exceptional lives as well. When people see me, it is immediately obvious that I have physical challenges. Those challenges have caused me to have to deal with such things as fear and insecurity, but I have chosen not to live within the boundaries that those things would set for my life. Yes, there are a number of things that I am not physically able to do and that can cause me to feel fearful or insecure. But, in those situations my prayer has become…”Lord, if it is Your will that I do this (whatever challenge is ahead of me), then I am willing, but I need You to enable me to do it.” Approaching life with faith in God, His love and His goodness, has changed me, even while I am still living with these obstacles. God has never let me down or proven to be unfaithful, instead, I know He is dependable and trustworthy. I will inevitably need assistance to accomplish things because of my mobility issues, but I am very thankful that God has placed people in my life at every step who are willing to help me.
By keeping my eyes on God, instead of how things look around me, I am able to rise above my given challenges. That is because of God, not me. He is able to accomplish all things. When I choose to trust Him, my life can become something more fruitful than would seem possible according to my visible limitations. Then, 2 Cor. 12:9, becomes evident, which says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
What are your challenges to accomplishing all that God has in store for you? Through faith in God, you can become a light in the midst of the darkness of this world, by overcoming and accomplishing things that in your humanness would naturally be impossible. As each of us steps out in faith, God will be faithful and move in our lives. His greatness will be revealed through our weakness. I encourage you to step out in faith today.
My prayer is, “Lord, thank You for your steadfast love. Thank You for never giving up on me. I ask for Your grace and Your mercy. Please help each of us to have a renewed faith in You, as we fully trust in the words of Phil: 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” AMEN.
