Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. (Psalm 136:1 NKJV)
Have you ever watched a child as they marvel over a new discovery they’ve made? They possess an ability to be amazed by things that would seem “ordinary” to an adult. They can become fascinated with life’s simple findings, as well as the more complex ones. As we get older, we tend to lose that sense of excitement for things.
At present, my life is filled with many new things. My book, “Our Father,” was published in November 2013. I have entered into a new life in Christian Ministry, which includes writing, public speaking, the start-up of a formal ministry, and many other things which formerly would have caused me tremendous fear. I do experience stress and anxiety over these things at times, but it is in those moments when I take comfort in the fact that “His mercy endures forever.”
As I approach these new things, I know that I cannot successfully accomplish any of them, without God’s help. Living in that awareness causes me to be reminded of that child-like wonder that I experienced as a child. These days, I am in awe of God’s love, compassion, favor and goodness towards me.
I would never have expected any of these new things to be a part of my life, but by God’s grace and His mercy, they are. Your life may appear nothing like mine, but whatever “new things” become part of YOUR life, you can know the wonder of God’s mercy that will endure forever.
My prayer today is, “Lord, thank you for your mercy, grace and love. Please help us to know you better, and to keep that child-like wonder of You.”
